Welcome!
As of 1/1/24 all vehicles will need to be Zero Emissions in order to be added to the CARB Online System (see below). According to CARB, a zero-emission vehicle (ZEV) means an on-road vehicle with a drivetrain that produces zero exhaust emissions of any criteria pollutant (or precursor pollutant) or greenhouse gas under any possible operational modes or conditions.
It is of great importance that you register all diesel vehicles into the system before December 1st, 2023. Once registered, this vehicle will need to visit a regulated seaport or intermodal railyard at least once a year in order to remain in The CARB Online System (TRUCRS).
Beginning February 15th 2025, this system will be the same one you will use to report your annual mileage. Keep in mind, legacy drayage trucks can remain in the registry until they exceed the minimum useful life requirements.
